Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented

Sunday, December 4th, 2005

ok so this is the first time i’ve made a video game review on this blog. to let all you know, im also a game fanatc, addict, and a friggin critic. for now my first review will have to be about one of the most succesful game that came out of Tecmo and changed the horror game genre forever. Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented.

ok so the game is starred by a new girl (yes, your not having visual difficiencies, it is a girl as what i’ve just typed), named Rei Kurosawa, a freelance photographer who had a car accident where her boyfriend, Yuu Asuo, sadly died. after the incident, Rei was having trouble how to move on with her life. still she has to do something right? yes, she went on being the photographer that she is. so got this assignment where she was told to take photographs, in a Mansion (not yet creepy). but then to her surprise she saw what looks her late boyfriend’s ghost telling her something which is yet to be found out if you play the game ( can’t tell you the whole story now huh?).

but besides Yuu, there is also another tormented soul who keeps haunting her, in her sleep that is. a woman with striking beauty and weird blue tattoos. it’s like she was meant to be a sacrifice of some weird ritual (sounds familiar?). yep, another creepy ritual which again involves the death of an individual for the salvation of many. only this time it got out of hand.

the game effects is quite good. probably better the first and the second Fatal Frame games. what really kicks into your head is the eerie environment and the creepy sounds you hear. more scary than what goes bonk in the night. as always Tecmo has made a great deal enhancing the graphics, most especially for the ghosts since they have to look really scary. the bad side of the game? still the character runs slowly, i mean really slowly. plus there are some ghosts which actually moves quite slow yet can disappear in a blink of an eye only to reappear behind you, giving you only a few seconds to time it right for a good camera shot. what’s more embarrasing is the the controls. sorta sluggish and can sometimes be iritating most specially in combat modes. fortunately the good Japs of Tecmo placed a lot of stuff to make the game even. lots of health items and films and a new camera feature for the trouble.

to conclude, this game is a total knocker. if you guys aint got plans like a night out with chix, or your too perked up to go hit the hay, or maybe to bored to go on a horror movie marathon since everything else has ben done to horror flicks, might as well take this game out. try it, if you dare, just make sure to leave the light on when you play, and after that, still, leave the light on when you sleep. pleasant dreams……
